Christopher Torry
Using a combination of his own photography, found images and material drawn from archives and interviews Christopher Torry investigates the processes and problems of recording and recall.
In the project, of which the piece shown at HOST is a fragment, he attempts to partially reconstruct a space which is no longer accessible to those trying to recall it. Through collected photographs and artefacts he attempts to negotiate the imperfect, contingent nature of memory and to create something which, though incomplete, is sufficient to speak of a place now past and which addresses the wider question of what we can claim to remember.
